Oxford Startups is a popular group for anyone interested in the city’s flourishing startup scene. Everyone involved in startups, spinouts or social enterprises is welcome for informal gatherings which attract entrepreneurs, academics and the wider business community. The group prides itself on bringing together starter-uppers from inside and outside the universities.
Oxford Startups gatherings move to different venues around the city, and are often at some of the iconic places for the tech community. The newly opened Wood Centre for Innovation, the Bioescalator biotech hub at Oxford Brookes and the chic co-workspace Quarters Collective in East Oxford are some examples. Although informal and friendly, time is given to ‘elevator pitches’ for entrepreneurs to step forward and explain their offerings.
Founded in 2013 by software entrepreneur Jim Moodie and marketing expert Ben Mumby-Croft, the leadership team has expanded to include investment analyst Rachel Abernathy, Leah Thompson of Enterprising Oxford and healthtech specialist Megan Morys-Carter.
